Chevy Reveals New Colorado ZR2 Bison

2018 Colorado ZR2

The Colorado ZR2 has gained a reputation for being an exceptional off-road truck, boasting impressive performance capabilities as well as various technologies designed specifically to optimize off-road ventures. If you didn’t think the ZR2 could get any better, think again.

Chevrolet announced that it will be adding an all-new performance model to the ZR2’s lineup: the ZR2 Bison. Chevy collaborated with American Expedition Vehicles – a premium off-road aftermarket manufacturer – to produce the ZR2 Bison.

The Colorado ZR2 Bison introduces an array of features that make the vehicle even more capable and ready for off-road adventuring. To enhance underbody protection from rough terrain, the Bison features five skid plates that cover major components like the fuel tank and class-exclusive front and rear locking differentials. AEV constructed these skid plates with Boron steel, and they also designed the Bison’s front and rear bumpers using Boron steel, helping protect the vehicle’s body from obstacles and whatever lies in its path.

The founder and president of AEV, Dave Harrilton, said, “As this is the first Chevrolet vehicle we’ve given the AEV treatment to, we wanted to do something special with the industry’s first use of hot-stamped Boron steel. We also expect that Colorado drivers will love the added ruggedness of our front and rear bumpers on ZR2 Bison.”

The new ZR2 Bison will also feature a bold grille with the “Chevrolet” name, a set of 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratec off-road tires, and all-new aluminum wheels designed for the Bison. We at Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet love the look of the new ZR2 Bison and think you should definitely consider it if you love off-roading.

Chevrolet Announces Changes on the 2019 Silverado

We all like getting more for less, and that’s what you’ll find if you choose the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado LT. Chevrolet has announced the changes on the 2019 Silverado, and it will be more fuel-efficient, larger, and more capable. Not only that, the truck will have an MSRP that is around $700 less than the outgoing model.

Compared to the truck it is replacing, the 2019 Silverado LT crew cab’s 2.7-liter Turbo engine will produce 22% more torque. It will also come with standard stop-start technology, have active aero shutters, and be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

“For more than 100 years, Chevrolet has developed a reputation for building trucks that offer incredible performance, capability and value,” stated Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet. “The next-gen Silverado continues that tradition — offering more interior and cargo room, higher towing and payload capabilities and a lower starting at MSRP on our highest volume model.”

In addition to the affordably-priced LT model, there are a number of other exciting upgrades to the 2019 Silverado. These include available features like Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Front and Rear Park Assist, dual exhaust ports for V8 engine models, and a Rear Camera Mirror.

You’ll find the 2019 Silverado here at Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet, where we have plenty of new Silverado models in stock.

Engines For The 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500

We’re not far off from the day when the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado models arrive here at Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet—and when they do, they’ll be available with plenty of powertrain options. In fact, Chevrolet is releasing six engines for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

  • Chevy estimates that more than half of new 2019 Silverado models will get their power from a V8: either the 5.3-liter V8 or the 6.2-liter V8. Each will be equipped with Dynamic Fuel Management—an industry first. This feature will offer 17 different formats of cylinder deactivation for efficient driving and hauling.
  • New to the Silverado lineup is the 2.7-liter Turbo engine, which will generate 22% more torque than the outgoing engine that it replaces.
  • Chevy will offer Active Fuel Management versions of the 4.3-liter V6 and 5.3-liter V8.
  • Diesel finally makes its way to the Silverado lineup in the form of the Duramax 3.0-liter inline-six turbo diesel, available early next year.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will be available in eight distinct trims. The Work Truck, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss (new for 2019) are categorized as high-value models; LT, RST (new for 2019), and LT Trail Boss (new for 2019) are high-volume; and LTZ and High Country are high-feature Silverado models. Soon, you’ll find all versions of the 2019 Silverado 1500 at Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet.

Redesigned Chevy Silverados Coming Soon

Redesigned Chevy SilveradoThe times, they are a-changin’ for the Chevrolet Silverado. Chevy has been busy with its new Silverados lately, having introduced the new 2019 Silverado 1500 this past January and the 2019 Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD in March. There’s one more new Silverado on the horizon: the 2020 Silverado HD. The new Silverado HD caters to the needs of those who work with heavy-duty workloads. That’s yet another redesigned Chevy Silverado to be launched within two years.

There are many notable changes in these new pickup trucks. For the Silverado 1500, one big aspect is its lighter weight. Paired with a versatile engine lineup, this 2019 Silverado 1500 delivers an impressive performance while maintaining notable fuel efficiency. The Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD trucks are actually the first medium-duty Silverado pickups. The automaker has designed them to be drivable, convenient, easy-to-use commercial trucks.

Chevrolet continues to increase its standards for performance, durability, strength, and passenger comfort. While details of the 2020 Silverado HD won’t be available until early 2019, we’re sure that it’s going to be a bold new generation. As with the other Silverados, a slew of configurations and trims should allow passengers to find just the right fit for their needs.

You can find the current Chevrolet Silverado trucks available here at Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet.

Start the New Year Right with Resolutions for Car Owners

Resolutions for Car Owners

While it’s a popular practice to forge new goals to pursue in the new year, it’s uncommon to set ambitions for your auto and your driving habits. However, we think that every auto owner could benefit from these types of changes, to increase their driving pleasure and prolong the life of their vehicle. Here are some auto-related New Year’s resolutions to get you started.

  1. Plan ahead: Regularly maintaining your car is the best thing you can do to help prevent serious problems with the engine and parts. Make a habit of keeping up with oil changes, checking your tire pressure, and reading your owner’s manual, to help your vehicle stay in peak condition.
  2. Stop idling around: Leaving your car’s engine on, while it is idling, can harm your car. It burns through gas unnecessarily and increases overall carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, you should avoid warming your car for long periods of time.
  3. Be fuel-efficient: Save money at the pump by adopting fuel-efficient driving habits like using cruise control and adhering to the speed limit.

Incorporate some of these healthy maintenance and driving habits to enjoy the safest year yet. Happy New Year from all of us here at Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet!
