Chevrolet Announces Changes on the 2019 Silverado

We all like getting more for less, and that’s what you’ll find if you choose the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado LT. Chevrolet has announced the changes on the 2019 Silverado, and it will be more fuel-efficient, larger, and more capable. Not only that, the truck will have an MSRP that is around $700 less than the outgoing model.

Compared to the truck it is replacing, the 2019 Silverado LT crew cab’s 2.7-liter Turbo engine will produce 22% more torque. It will also come with standard stop-start technology, have active aero shutters, and be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

“For more than 100 years, Chevrolet has developed a reputation for building trucks that offer incredible performance, capability and value,” stated Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president of Chevrolet. “The next-gen Silverado continues that tradition — offering more interior and cargo room, higher towing and payload capabilities and a lower starting at MSRP on our highest volume model.”

In addition to the affordably-priced LT model, there are a number of other exciting upgrades to the 2019 Silverado. These include available features like Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Front and Rear Park Assist, dual exhaust ports for V8 engine models, and a Rear Camera Mirror.

Engines For The 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500

We’re not far off from the day when the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado models arrive here at Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet—and when they do, they’ll be available with plenty of powertrain options. In fact, Chevrolet is releasing six engines for the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.

  • Chevy estimates that more than half of new 2019 Silverado models will get their power from a V8: either the 5.3-liter V8 or the 6.2-liter V8. Each will be equipped with Dynamic Fuel Management—an industry first. This feature will offer 17 different formats of cylinder deactivation for efficient driving and hauling.
  • New to the Silverado lineup is the 2.7-liter Turbo engine, which will generate 22% more torque than the outgoing engine that it replaces.
  • Chevy will offer Active Fuel Management versions of the 4.3-liter V6 and 5.3-liter V8.
  • Diesel finally makes its way to the Silverado lineup in the form of the Duramax 3.0-liter inline-six turbo diesel, available early next year.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will be available in eight distinct trims. The Work Truck, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss (new for 2019) are categorized as high-value models; LT, RST (new for 2019), and LT Trail Boss (new for 2019) are high-volume; and LTZ and High Country are high-feature Silverado models.
