The Colorado ZR2 has gained a reputation for being an exceptional off-road truck, boasting impressive performance capabilities as well as various technologies designed specifically to optimize off-road ventures. If you didn’t think the ZR2 could get any better, think again.
Chevrolet announced that it will be adding an all-new performance model to the ZR2’s lineup: the ZR2 Bison. Chevy collaborated with American Expedition Vehicles – a premium off-road aftermarket manufacturer – to produce the ZR2 Bison.
The Colorado ZR2 Bison introduces an array of features that make the vehicle even more capable and ready for off-road adventuring. To enhance underbody protection from rough terrain, the Bison features five skid plates that cover major components like the fuel tank and class-exclusive front and rear locking differentials. AEV constructed these skid plates with Boron steel, and they also designed the Bison’s front and rear bumpers using Boron steel, helping protect the vehicle’s body from obstacles and whatever lies in its path.
The founder and president of AEV, Dave Harrilton, said, “As this is the first Chevrolet vehicle we’ve given the AEV treatment to, we wanted to do something special with the industry’s first use of hot-stamped Boron steel. We also expect that Colorado drivers will love the added ruggedness of our front and rear bumpers on ZR2 Bison.”
The new ZR2 Bison will also feature a bold grille with the “Chevrolet” name, a set of 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler Duratec off-road tires, and all-new aluminum wheels designed for the Bison. We at Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet love the look of the new ZR2 Bison and think you should definitely consider it if you love off-roading.
